Ride Across Portugal participation rules

THE EVENT

Art.1 – The 6th Ride Across Portugal® edition takes place from 12 to 19 May 2024. The course has a total length of 770km, divided by six Stages, here in after referred to as the Event. The Stages are ridden from 13 to 18 May 2024.
Participants may also choose to ride a shorter version of the event, in only three of the six total stages. In these shorter versions, participants ride the first three stages (Ride Across Portugal® North) or the last three stages (Ride Across Portugal® South).

Art.2 – The organization of the Ride Across Portugal is the responsibility of Stream Plan, Lda, tax ID 513 381 619, head office at Av. Engº Duarte Pacheco, nº 19, 3º Esq., 1070-100 Lisboa, and Chronos Sports and Recreational Club, tax ID 514798998, hereafter referred to as Organization.

Art.3 – The Event is not a race. It is a cycling challenge in which each Participant cycles at his own pace. However, the Organisation may define in each Stage, for safety reasons or for any other reason related to the Event’s dynamics, stopping, starting and passing times at previously defined points of the course, communicated to the Participants in advance. In some segments of each Stage, previously defined and communicated, the Organisation may also time the Participants, for a purpose of Event control.

The term “Challenge” used in these rules is associated with each Participant’s challenge and personal overcoming to complete the six demanding Stages within the time limits required by the Organisation for security reasons (each one races with himself and with his limits).

 

PARTICIPATION

Art.4 – The Event is a cycling Event, obey the rules of the Portuguese Cycling Federation and is therefore subject to the principles contained in that regulation. It is an Event open to all cyclists, federated or not federated, of both sexes over 18 years, hereinafter referred to as Participants.

Art.5 – Participation in the Event is forbidden to Participants who comply with sanctions by the respective federations for the use of doping substances. It is also forbidden to use doping substances before, during and after the Event.

Art.6 – Only the use of two-wheels vehicles (bicycle) without any engine is allowed in the Event. The Organisation may refuse in the Event a Participant who has a bicycle that is not appropriate or that presents security problems for the Participant himself or the others.

Art.7 – Participants are required to use approved cycling helmet whenever they use a bicycle. Failure to comply with this rule implies the immediate exclusion from the Stage. In case of repetition in more than one Stage, the Participant will be excluded from the Event.

Art.8 – The participation in the Event is the sole responsibility of each individual Participant, assuming the entire risk related to its participation.

Art.9 – The Ride Across Portugal registration includes a sports insurance provided by the Portuguese Cycling Federation with the following coverages:

  • Personal Accidents (PA)

▸Death or permanent disability caused by accident: 28 043,00€

▸Medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, hospitalization and repatriation expenses by accident: 5 000.00 €

▸Funeral expenses: 2 700,00 €

  • Civil Liability (CL)

▸Capital covered by athlete and for each occurrence – € 50,000.00

Participants may complement these coverages, subscribing the “extra” Premium Travel Insurance that combines traditional travel assistance insurance with more extensive trip cancellation and interruption coverages.

Art.10 – The Organisation is not responsible for any accident that may be caused or may victimize any Participant, which should be covered by the insurance of the Event, or for any expenses incurred by any Participant during the Event.

Art.11 – The Participants are responsible for their registration and participation in the Event, aware that this is a physically demanding event, requiring adequate preparation and fitness. Each Participant is strongly advised to take an appropriate medical examination before participating in this Event. In any case, it is mandatory (at the moment of registration or later until  30 April 2023) that each participant send to the Organisation a medical certificate attesting their physical fitness to participate in the Event. Alternatively the Participant may send a UCI license, valid for the year 2023, which in itself certifies his physical capacity to participate in this type of events.

Art.12 – The Organisation reserves the right to refuse a Participant’s registration until the Event’s starting day, without having to justify the reason. In this case the Participant is notified by email and the eventual amount already paid will be fully refunded by bank transfer within 10 business days.

 

REGISTRATION

With the registration, each Participant can subscribe to extra packages and extra services whose characteristics and prices are properly announced on the official website of the Event. In addition, participants may also subscribe to other packages and extra services operated by the Official Tour Operators. The responsibility of these services and packages is exclusive of these operators.

Art.14 – Registrations will be made on the official website www.rideacrossportugal.com, on a registration form. They can also be made on the Official Tour Operators websites’. The registration will only be considered valid after payment, within the deadline established and through the payment system published on the Event’s official website. Registrations are open until 23:59 p.m. of 30 April 2024. Payments made after this deadline will be refunded within 90 days, by bank transfer, upon receipt of a Credit Note issued by the Organisation and signed by the Participant, deducted from the amount of 15 € relating to administrative expenses.

Art.15 – The Participant recognises that all the data filled in the registration form is correct and true and that the provided email address is the best way to be informed by the Organisation for all the important communication about the Event, accepting to be informed by this means of communication.

Art.16 – All contact with the Organisation should be made by email to the following address: info@rideacrossportugal.com.

Art.17 – The invoice data will be issued according to the information filled on the registration form. After invoices are issued, changes will not be made, including tax identification number indicated on the registration form.

Art.18 – By doing his/her registration each Participant reads and subscribes the rules of this document as it declares to know and accept the risks inherent of participating in a cycling event open to traffic. The Participant excludes the Organisation’s responsibility for any accident derived from his participation in the Event. However, all Participants will be covered by the Event insurance.

 

WITHDRAWALS BEFORE THE EVENT

Art.19 – In case of withdrawal, a percentage value of the registration may be refunded to the Participant, according to the withdrawal’s communication date:

– Until 12:00 p.m. January 1st 2024, amount not refunded: 300,00 €

– Between February 1st and April 15th 2024, amount not refunded: 50% of the total amount paid for the whole registration and extra services.

– After 12:00 p.m. April 15th 2024, no refund will be held.

Art.19.1 – Alternatively, the athlete who gives up can choose to transfer his registration for the next year’s edition (2025), keeping one voucher that can apply on the registration of the next years edition. The value of this voucher depends on the date of the communication of his (her) withdrawal:

– Until 12:00 p.m. March 15th, 2024 – Voucher with a value of 100% of all the amount already paid for registration and extras

– Between March 16th and April 30th 2024 – Voucher with a value of 50% of all the amount already paid for registration and extras

– After 12:00 p.m. April 30th 2024, the participant doesn’t benefit of any voucher.

Art.20 – A regularized registration of a withdrawing Participant may be transferred to another substitute Participant if that change is communicated to the Organisation by email before April 30th 2024. After that date, no substitution will be possible, and no refund will be made as detailed in the previous article. The transfer between Participants is dependent upon the Organisation’s acceptance of the new Participant.

 

COLLECTING THE PARTICIPANT KIT (BIB NUMBER)

Art.21 – The Participation Kit, including the bib number and front plate of the bicycle, may be picked up at the Event registration office, which will operate on May 12th 2024 at Peso da Régua, on a place and time  announced by the organization to the Participants.

Art.22 – To pick up the participation kit at the registration office it is mandatory to present an identification document with photo (ID or Citizen Card, passport, driving license or other). Is also mandatory to present a safety equipment kit with: back light, thermal blanket, windstop and waterproof jacket, full fingers gloves, thermal overshoes and arm warmers. The participant kit must be picked up by the Participant.

Art.23 – The front plate of the bicycle is property of the Organization, who gives the permission to the participant to use it during the days of the race, if he complies with all the rules defined by the rules of the race or by decision taken by the organization at any time. At the end of the race the bicycle front plate is offered to the participant by the organization.

Art.24 – The front plate of the bicycle and other identification elements as the bib number are equipment for personal use and non-transferable, not being allowed to use by another person.

Art.25 – All Participants must place the race number on the front of the bicycle, in the correct position, under the handlebar so as to be entirely visible. Any Participant who fails to comply with this rule will be excluded from the Event. It is strictly forbidden to modify the position of the electronic chip,the graphical content contained on the race number on the bicycle, or add any type of message or image-oriented advertising or otherwise.

 

ON THE ROAD

Art.26 – The Event will take place on OPEN ROADS WITH TRAFFIC. All Participants must strictly comply with traffic rules contained in the Portuguese Road Code, with special attention:

– The requirement to keep on the right side of the road, safeguarding the safe circulation of other vehicles is in the opposite direction and in the same way as the Participants in the Event.

– To respect the priority rules on crossing roads.

– To respect all vertical and horizontal traffic signals.

Who does not respect these rules will be disqualified from the Stage (given as not having completed the Stage), and will be excluded from the Event In case of recurrence in this type of infractions.

When registering, each Participant assumes that read and accepts the rules of this document, and declares to know and assume the risks of participating in a cycling Event carried out on open roads with traffic.

Art.27 – In order to provide the concept of “everybody rides on his own pace” in all the course, the vehicles of the Organization will not affect the progress of the Participants. However, in case of conditions that require it, the vehicles of the Organization can condition the speed of the Participants. In this case, the Participants are forbidden to overtake the organization vehicles, if this information is transmitted to them. The Participants who violate this rule, will be disqualified from the Event and stay at their own risk.

Art.28 – Assistance provided to Participants by support vehicles outside the organization is strictly forbidden. It’s also forbidden for vehicles circulate near the cyclists during the Event, conditioning the normal traffic.  Violations of this rule may be registered and communicated to the Organization by the authorities and other members of the Organization.

The Organization will provide information about the places recommended for the companions to assist and support the Participants.

Security forces (Police) are present to prevent movement of support vehicles in the middle of cyclists in the Event, ensuring compliance with the Portuguese Road Code.

Art.29 – The Event can be supported by security forces, which will pay a special attention to the compliance with traffic rules by all those involved in the Event and other vehicles on the road.

Art.30 – Participants must strictly comply with the time, including the time of departure, ensuring that they start before the “broom wagon”. Who doesn’t respect this rule will be participating at his own risk, out of the organization’s control and responsibility. The starting times of each Stage will be communicated to the Participants before the start of the Event.

Art.31 – Start of the Stages can be given in group for all Participants, or in smaller groups, with different schedules, according the indications provided to the Organization by the security forces. Participants must leave at the time appointed by the Organization. In case of do not respect this rule, the Participant has a penalty of 10 minutes for each minute of delay in relation to their time of departure. In case of recurrence of this delay behaviour, the Participant may be sanctioned with the “disqualification” of the stage, being classified as “not having finished the stage”, not being considered “Finisher” at the end of the Event. Departures close 10 minutes after the last group’s departure time. After this time the Organization will give the Participant as not participating in the Stage, being disqualified from the Event. In this case, the Participant is responsible for his/her transportation and for his/her bicycle until the end of the Stage, supporting the costs.

Art.32 – The Organization has medical support of the Event. If necessary, the Participants shall request the assistance to the members of the Organization who will activate the necessary assistance procedures.

Art.33 – In case of accident or suspected illness or other physical problems, the Participant must be observed by the medical team of the Event, which will give or not the Participant permission to continue their participation in the Event. If the medical team diagnoses that the Participant is unable to participate, the Participant will be forbidden to continue on the Event until it is recovered. In that case the Participant should organise and support the costs of the transport of Participant and bicycle. Special cases can be considered by the Organization that in these cases will transport the Participant and the bicycle to the end of the stage.

Art.34 – Participants must inform the Organization in writing of any medical information that may be necessary and important in a medical emergency during the Event.

Art.35 – Participants who have suffered an accident during the Event and needed emergency, medical services or evacuation by emergency services, should within three days after the Event’s day, participate the accident to the organization by email address. This participation of the accident within this period is critical to ensure the Event’s insurance coverage of the damage.

Art.36 – The organization will have mechanical assistance along the Stages who will try to solve mechanical problems. The hand labour is free; however the replacement parts will be charged to the Participants who need them. The costs should be pay in the end of the Stage. The repair of punctures are excluded from the interventions provided by the mechanical support. The mechanical assistance will consist of fixed and dynamic teams that will circulate along the course. Because of the Event’s dynamic, this service may not ensure assistance to all Participants. However, the existence of this mechanical assistance, the Participants must properly prepare their bikes, making sure they are in the best condition in the beginning of each stage. The organization can never be blamed for the withdrawal of a Participant caused by mechanical problems.

Art.37 – The Participants during the stages should guarantee the transport of food and liquid replacement for their own feeding and hydration. However, the organization will have recovering stations, identified before the Event, which will dispense some food and drinks.

Art.38 – For safety, it is forbidden for Participants to use headphones as an accessory device for listening to music or using the phone during the Event.

Art.39 – During the Event, the Participant is obliged to carry a mobile phone with the number provided on his registration form, an identity card and money. In case of bad weather conditions, the organization may oblige Participants to use or transport some equipment, such as lights, thermal blankets or wind stop and waterproof clothes.

Art.40 – The organization has the right to change the course and other dynamic of the Event when justified for any reason, without having to compensate Participants.

 

LIMITED TIMES AND WITHDRAWALS

Art.41 – The Participant shall always follow the Event’s course. If the Participant wants to leave the Event’s course, must contact an element of the Organization who will take off the front plate of the bike. From that moment the Participant assumes he is out of the event, his own risk and his destiny.

Art.42 – To ensure the integrity and safety of the Participants, there are control points, with time limits for passing. Participants who arrive to these control points after the time limit set for each control will be obliged to abandon the Stage and be collected by the “broom wagon” to the finish. The control points and time limit (closing of the controls) will be communicated to the Participants before the start of the Stage.

The Participants who choose to continue, will be required to take off the front plate from the bike on control point and will carry on at their own risk from that point.

Art.43 – If the Organization verify that a Participant for any reason is not in condition to continue the Stage, that the weather conditions are adverse or there is any other danger situation, the Participant may be required to enter the “broom wagon” before the time limits communicated by the Organization at the control points.

Art.44 – The Participants who drop out during the Stage must communicate that to the organization’s members, in person or by phone, announcing their withdrawal. In case of a Participant’s disappearance, rescue services will be advised. Any person who didn’t announce his or her withdrawal may will support the costs of the search and rescue. In addition will be punished with expulsion from the event. If a Participant gives up during a Stage will be transported in the car broom to the end of the stage, respecting the itinerary and schedule of this vehicle during the normal course of the Event.

Art.45.- The Participants must have the perfect notion of the difficulties of a Event such as Ride Across Portugal, having the obligation to do a properly preparation. In case of recurrence in the withdrawal in the stages due to insufficient preparation or due to voluntary causes, the situation will be analyzed by the Organization, which may charge the Participant with the responsibility and the costs of his/her transportation and of his/her bicycle until the end of the stages.

Art.46 – If the Participant does not wish to participate in a Stage, he shall notify the Organization until 15 minutes before the start time of the Stage. If not, the Participant and the respective bicycle will not be transported by the Organization to the end of the Stage. The Participant should organise and support the cost the transport for Participant and bicycle. Special cases can be considered by the Organization that in these cases will transport the Participant and the bicycle to the end of the stage.

Art.47 – In case of withdrawal of the Event, due to illness, or for any other reason, the Participant shall be responsible for the costs of his/her transportation, bicycle and luggage to his/her residence, including the early rescue of the bicycle bag and others elements that only are available to the Participants at the end of the event.

 

COURSE, GPS AND SEGMENTS

Art.48 – The course of the Event is marked on the road. However will be provided to the Participants a set of computer files in the “GPX” format (GPS exchange Format), which must be used during the Event on a compatible GPS device. These files will be sent to Participants by email and the responsibility of the correct use of these files are totally of the Participants.

Art.49 – In addition to the route marked on the GPS, there will be signs (traffic signs or event’s signs) on the road in some segments of the Stages. These signs may point to a different course indicated in GPS, for various reasons such as road works, changes in traffic. In that case the Participants should follow the directions of the signs as a priority, ignoring the route in the GPS. The Participants should follow again the event’s course as soon as possible.

Art.50 – The choice, ownership and maintenance of GPS devices is responsibility of the Participants. The Participants are strongly advised to use a GPS with at least 10 hours of autonomy or the ability to charge/change batteries, water, shock and vibration proof, which can be securely attached to the handlebar, with the capacity of processing GPX files with more than 10,000 points and with a USB connection port.

Art.51 – The Event is not a competition, but in each Stage, for control and security purposes, there will be segments that will be timed, using the dates registered in the GPS of each Participant.

Art.52 – If the Participant does not complete one of the stages in the limited time, he will be penalized with a 15-minute penalty.

 

FINISHERS

Art.53 –  Will be considered Ride Across Portugal Finishers the Participants who finish in the limited time and without penalties that imply the disqualification of any of the stages, all the six stages.

 

PARTICIPATION ON TEAMS OF TWO ELEMENTS                                

Art.54.- Athletes can register to participate in Teams of two elements (“Doubles”) mode, dividing the course of each stage by the two athletes , the transition being made in a location and time window to be defined by the organization for each stages. The registration fees for the participants in doubles, is the same as the normal participation.

Art.55.- Although the match format is considered, the start of the athlete responsible for the second part of the stage may be given before the arrival of the athlete responsible for the first part of the course.

Art.56.- Athletes who participate in two elements team are subject to the same rules for individual participants, namely those that refer to time limit controls.

Art.57. – If one of the team members does not complete his part of the course within the time limit, the team will be awarded a 15-minute penalty to be added to the total sum of the times recorded by the two players on the timed segments in the stage.

 

BRIEFINGS

Art.58 – The day before each Stage there will be a short briefing, at the time and place to be announced, where the main issues recorded at the stage of the day and the recommendations for the next stage will be communicated. All participants are strongly advised to attend the briefing, where they can be informed of pertinent security issues and some last-minute changes to the next days. By not being present at the briefing the participants are responsible for the ignorance of these and other important information that can be communicated by the organization at that moment.

 

ECO-RESPONSIBILITY

Art.59 – Participants are required to have a responsible behaviour regarding to preserve the environment in all areas used along the route and the area of departure and arrival. It is absolute forbidden to throw waste onto the ground, before, during and after the Stages. At the finish, start and at the feed stations there are garbage containers provided by the organization to deposit waste carried by the Participants. If the Participant break this rule, is sanctioned with the “disqualification” of the stage, being classified as “not having finished the stage”, not being considered “Finisher” at the end of the Event. In case of recurrence, the Participant may be sanctioned with the expulsion of the event. In this case he will not be refunded of any amount and he is the responsible for the his/her transport, including bicycle and luggage to his residence. The Participant is also responsible for the costs of the early rescue of the bicycle bag and others elements that only are available to the Participants at the end of the event.

 

FAULTS AND PENALTIES

Art.60 – In addition to non-compliance with the rules referred in the previous points, may be sanctioned the Participants Who:

– Do not respect the orders and indications given by the security forces and the elements of the Organization

– Adopt anti-sportiive behavior, using irregular actions to gain an advantage in their final timing

– Adopt acts that affects the normal progress of the Event.

– In any way, by words or acts, they don’t respect other Participants or members involved in the Organization, including with publications or comments on social networks or other ways of communication that may be considered defamatory or offensive.

Art.61 – The faults are detected and reported by members of the Organization or by security forces, coming from a Jury Committee consisting of five members of the Organization the final decision of sanctions for the Participants concerned.

Art.62 – Sanctions that can be applied:

– Time penalty (which will be added to the total time of the timed segments).

– Disqualification of the Stage, being classified as “not having finished the Stage”. In this case it will not be considered “Finisher” at the end of the event.

– Exclusion of the Event, without times published, diploma and medal.

– Inclusion of the name in the list of sanctioned Participants, to be published after the Event.

– Forbidden to participate in later editions of the Event.

– Sanctions imposed by the police authorities, if the infractions are detected by the authorities and they consider that they deserve sanction.

Art.63 – If a Participant suffers a penalty of exclusion from the Event, he will not be refunded of any amount and In this case he is the responsible for the his/her transport, including bicycle and luggage to his residence. The Participant is also responsible for the costs of the early rescue of the bicycle bag and other elements that only are available to the Participants at the end of the event.

 

COMMERCIAL AND PROMOTIONAL RIGHTS

Art.64 – The Organisation exclusively holds the advertising and commercial rights of the Event, thus becoming their responsibility to negotiate and manage such rights on behalf and for the benefit of all participants, sponsors, partners and other entities.

Art.65 – The Organisation exclusively holds the right to receive, withhold and distribute all of the revenue from the commercial use of the commercial and advertising rights.

Art.66 – All Participants must scrupulously abide by all commercial contracts and agreements concerning the commercial use of the Event. Participants must make every possible effort to ensure the compliance with the obligations undertaken thereunder by the Organisation.

Art.67 – Except given express consent by the Organisation, the Participant is expressly prohibited to display or put up any publicity, and promote companies, products, goods, equipment or services, during the Event.

Art.68 – The Participant is responsible for any obligations resulting from the use of registered trademarks, patents and licenses of intellectual property rights, during the Event and upon its completion.

Art.69 – Should the Organisation be sued for breaching any of the rights mentioned in the previous paragraph, the Participant is then bound to compensate the Organisation for every expense resulting from such breach.

 

IMAGE RIGHTS

Art.70 – The registration in this event and the acceptance of these rules automatically imply that the Participant authorises the Organisation to full or partially capture the Participant during the event.  These images may be used freely in the promotion and advertising of the event in every media channel (television, radio, press, internet, billboards, cards and fliers, photos and videos). The Participant therein grants the Organisation all image rights aforementioned for the purpose of commercial use and advertising, forfeiting the right to receive any financial compensation from the Organisation.

 

DATA PROTECTION

Art.71 – The Organisation of Ride Across Portugal fully complies with the Data Protection Law in force. The athletes are fully aware and authorize the insertion and treatment of their personal data on files belonging to the Event’s Organisation. Said information will be used with the purpose of development, administrative and commercial management and other activities. The athletes must state the name they wish to see on the bib number, in the participant’s list and on the final score that shall be published on the website of the Event.  In spite of the previous, the privacy policy allows the athlete to request the amendment or removal of their data by sending an e-mail request to info@rideacrossportugal.com.

Art.72 – By confirming his registration, the participant authorizes to be contacted by Stream Plan Lda by telephone, sms and email for the following purposes:

 Art.73 – Additionally, if the Participant grants the relevant authorization upon registration, it will authorize the Organisation to:

Process the personal data received by the Organisation or generated as consequence of registration in the Event, for the execution of general commercial actions or adapted to the Participant’s profile, by any medium (Letter, telephone, e-mail, SMS, MMS, instant messaging apps, etc.), about products or services from the Organisation and the companies belonging to the Podium Events, S.A. group, or related to the execution and organisation of events, Events and sports competitions, merchandising or similar activities, during the period of time foreseen by the Organisation in its internal policies for retaining data. The Participant can, at any moment, revoke the present authorization.

Art.74 – The Participant may, at any given time, exercise their right of access, correction, cancellation/deletion, opposition, limitation and portability recognized by the laws relating to Data Protection in force, by addressing the Organisation through registered mail with delivery receipt, at the address Avenida Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco, n.º 19, 3º Esq, 1070- 100 Lisboa or by the following e-mail address info@rideacrossportugal.com.

Art.75 – Notwithstanding the Participant’s ability to exercise the aforementioned rights, the Organisation will retain the personal data provided by the Participant or generated as a consequence registration and or participation in the Event for its duration, as well as during the limitation period of judicial actions that may be presented by either party.

Art.76 – Once that period is over, the Organisation may retain the processed personal data with the purpose of identifying former participants in order to offer them discounts and promotional campaigns in future Events, as well as to be able to provide them with products and services from the Organisation, whenever said Participants have authorized so.

Art.77 – For a better knowledge of the data protection rules implemented by the Organization, participants should consult the terms of the Privacy Policy published on the official event website at www.rideacrossportugal.com.

 

HEALTH RULES

Art.78 – All participants will have to comply with the measures applied by the organization in the different places and moments of the event, in order to safeguard the rules and guidelines issued by the local and national health authorities and that are in force on the date of the event.

 

POSTPONEMENT OR CANCELLATION OF THE EVENT

Art.79 – Several reasons might force the Organisation to suspend, postpone or cancel the Event, as well as to change the location, schedule or course of the Event. In none of these circumstances may the Organisation be held accountable for breach of contract. Consequently, no accountability will be asked of the Organisation as it shall not be obliged to financially, or in any other way, compensate any athlete, person or entity by this fact.

In case of postponement or rescheduling of the event for any reason, the registration is automatically transferred to the new date, there being no obligation to partially or fully refund the amount paid for the registration and for extras.

 

COMPLAINTS

Art.80 – Complaints must be submitted in writing on the registration office (during the event) or by email to info@rideacrossportugal.com, within a maximum of 24 hours after the finish line closing hour.

 

ACCEPTANCE OF THE RESPONSIBILITY DISCLAIMER

Art.81 – By registering, all Participants accept the present rules and, should any doubt or situation not foreseen here arise, they should inform the Organisation and present such queries in writing.

Art.82 – By registering, each participant agree to the terms and conditions of registration and participation in the Event and to all the conditions in the present Rules, which is the equivalent to declaring the following:

Art.82.1 – I have read and agree to the Official Rules of Ride Across Portugal, made available on the website www.rideacrossportugal.com ;

Art.82.2 – I am aware of my health status and confirm that I meet the physical and mental requirements to take part in the Event;

Art.82.3 – I declare that I will not take part in the Event, should my health status change after registration;

Art.82.4 – I am aware of the contents of the existing insurance policy;

Art.82.5 – By taking part in the Event, I authorise the Organisation and their partners in this Event to use my image completely free of charge and without any restrictions. I thus yield all image rights, namely photographs and video footage captured during the Event, forfeiting to receive any earnings resulting from the diffusion of such images in communication support pieces;

Art.82.6 – It is of my own free will that I take part in this Event, exempting the Organisation, their partners, directors, associates and other companies associated with the Event, from any responsibility resulting from my participation, before, during and after the Event (for instance, loss of personal belongings by theft, damages or other circumstances);

Art.82.7 – I am aware of the conditions of cancellation of the Event, which I fully accept.

 

OTHER

Art.83 – All monetary amounts presented in this regulation include VAT – Value Added Tax.

Art.84 – The Organization is not responsible for any loss or damage which may affect bicycles, baggage or other equipment of the Participants, including in the Stages and in transportation. The Participant relieves the organization of the responsibility for any loss or damage of personal items and bicycle, under any circumstances. The Participant’s baggage must be packaged in such a way that there is no damage during handling and transportation.

Art.85 – By registering and validating the registration in Ride Across Portugal, the Participants acknowledge and fully accept the Rules, renouncing any legal action against the Organisation, derived from their participation in the Event.

Art.86 – The Organisation shall form a Event Jury, comprised of five elements of the Organisation that shall decide on the sanctions to be applied and on every matter concerning the Event that has not been subject to these Rules, as well as to decide on any misinterpretation of the Rules.

Art.87 – In the case of doubts in the interpretation of the regulation, the Portuguese version will have prevalence on the versions in other languages.

Art.88 – These Rules are subject to change. Any changes, amendments or eventual annexes to the present Rules shall be published on the official website of the Event, and will be tacitly accepted, should there be no opposition of any of the introduced rules in a maximum of eight days from date of release, provided that such opposition is made in writing to the Organisation by the following e-mail address: info@rideacrossportugal.com.

Art.89 – The present Rules come into effect at 00.00 on the May 17th 2023, revoking all previous dispositions or determinations.
